How To Have No Regrets

Pastor Kent McBay said recently that he could not remember an occasion when he regretted trusting in any of the Lord*s promises. Dr. J. Vernon McGee was greatly troubled about the occasions when he had doubted the Lord. As I think of it, the things that I have regretted the most have been things I have done outside of the will of God. Some of the sins I committed before I became saved still haunt me. But the times of unbelief I have had since I have been saved trouble me more. He has been one hundred percent faithful to me. How can I distrust Him so often? How can I so often forget to seek His will? The way to have less regrets is to trust the Lord more. My most joyful memories are of the times that I trusted and obeyed Him. Those lessons are worth learning and remembering for every Christian.

Joshua 23:14: And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.

Revelation 3:17-18: Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

I thank the Lord that He is helping me to see what to be ashamed of in my life. While He is revealing to me hideous truth about myself He is also revealing glorious truth about His mercy and forgiveness of my sin. He is helping me to see my need to trust Him.

Lamentations 3:19-26: Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. 20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me. 21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of the LORD*S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

He helps me to trust Him and do what is right. While I cannot always see His answer, He never fails to answer this prayer:

Psalms 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
